Special Consensus formed in Chicago in 1975 and has been touring nationally and internationally ever since. The band has released 18 recordings and has appeared on numerous radio and cable television shows, including The Nashville Network and the Grand Ole Opry. Special C has also appeared in concert with many symphony orchestras and has brought an informative in-school presentation (the Traditional American Music Program) to schools nationally and internationally since 1984. The 2012 Compass Records release “Scratch Gravel Road” was GRAMMY- nominated for Best Bluegrass Album and the 2014 and 2016 Compass Records band recordings received several IBMA awards. A new recording titled “Rivers and Roads” will be released by Compass Records in March 2018. The band repertoire features a variety of musical styles and three- and four-part harmony singing. Special C band members are Greg Cahill (leader, banjo), Rick Faris (who moved from mandolin to guitar two years ago), Dan Eubanks (bass) and Nick Dumas (who joined on mandolin two years ago).
